Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University (SNDT WU), located in ChurchGate, Mumbai, Maharashtra, is a government women's university with a commitment to innovative academic initiatives. The university has gained notable recognition through its progressive academic departments, particularly the Department of Psychology.

In a significant milestone, the university established the 'ATMABODH' Mindfulness Cell on March 22, 2022, under the leadership of Dr. Nilesh Thakre, Head of the Psychology Department. This groundbreaking initiative aims to become India's first global centre for mindfulness education and training. The Cell focuses on comprehensive training programs including Workplace Mindfulness, Cognitive Mindfulness Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Programs.

The Cell's inauguration was a distinguished event attended by prominent dignitaries, including the Honourable Governor of Maharashtra and Chancellor of SNDT Women's University, Shri. Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Prof. Bhushan Patwardhan, and Dr. Ujwala Chakradeo, the University's Vice-Chancellor. The inaugural session highlighted the importance of mindfulness and introspection, with the Cell designed to benefit students, teachers, alumni, and the general public.

The university's commitment to psychological well-being is further demonstrated through initiatives like the 'SANKALP' Mindfulness Training session, conducted by renowned Psychiatrist and Mindfulness trainer Dr. Rajendra Barve. This program, exclusively held for the Post Graduate Department of Psychology, underscores SNDT Women's University's innovative approach to holistic education and mental health awareness.

University Hostel Located in the lush green campuses of the University, SNDT Women’s University Hostel is a home away from home for girls who come to pursue their dreams in the congested and fast life of Mumbai. It’s a huge building with 4 floors and comprising over 150 rooms which accommodate more than 500 students. Mess facility is provided within the building itself.

The collection includes books and monographs, Journals, newspapers, back volumes of Indian & foreign journals Back runs of newspapers and women’s magazines, State-of –the art reviews, databases,
Dissertations and theses, Standards and specifications, Reprints of articles & newspaper clippings,Pamphlets, leaflets and brochures, Annual reports of Governments agencies & research institutes, Unique collection of Hindustani Music, Select collection of teaching aids audio-visual material, microforms, Electronic resources including e-books, e-journals.
The collection of the Central Library is particularly strong in the social sciences, Gandhiana, women’s studies, arts, literature, nursing, education and library & information science. It provides Special workstations for using audio-visual materials, CD-ROMs and internet, Extensive lending facilities and Inter-library loan facilities. Library has membership of various e-resources such as Cambridge University Press, Emerald (LIS Collection), JCCC, JSTOR and many more.
