Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology (MPUAT) is a government university located in Udaipur, Rajasthan. The university was established on November 1, 1999, through a government ordinance that became an official act in May 2000. Its creation was driven by the need to address the wide physiographic variations in Rajasthan, including differences in crops, cropping patterns, climate, and soil parameters.

The university's jurisdiction spans 12 districts in the southern and southeastern parts of Rajasthan, including Udaipur, Rajsamand, Dungarpur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Bhilwara, and Pratapgarh. It encompasses various agricultural research and educational facilities, including Agricultural Research Stations (ARSs), Agricultural Research Sub Stations (ARSSs), Livestock Research Station (LRS), Dryland Farming Research Station (DFRS), and Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs).

One of its notable constituent colleges is the College of Technology and Engineering (CTAE), which was started in 1964 with an initial graduate program in Agricultural Engineering. Today, CTAE offers undergraduate degree programs in 8 branches, M.Tech. programs in 12 disciplines, an MBA in Engineering, and PhD programs in 9 disciplines. The college features well-equipped laboratories, a central workshop, and specialized facilities in departments like Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, and Post-Harvest Technology.

MPUAT follows the land grant university model, emphasizing a trinity of functions: teaching, research, and extension education. The university was established to provide location-specific agricultural education and research, with a particular focus on supporting the tribal belt of southern Rajasthan.
