Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (HNBGU) is a central government university located in Srinagar, Uttarakhand. Established on November 23, 1973, as a state university, it emerged through a powerful grassroots movement that symbolized the local community's aspirations for higher education development in the Garhwal region. The university was transformed into a Central University on January 15, 2009, under the Central Universities Act, which expanded its national appeal and student base.

Nestled in the Himalayan landscape, HNBGU is a residential and affiliating institution with jurisdiction over seven districts in the Garhwal region. The university operates three distinct campuses: the Birla Campus with its Chauras Campus extension in Srinagar Garhwal, the B. Gopal Reddy (BGR) Campus in Pauri, and the Swami Ram Teerth (SRT) Campus in Badshahithaul, Tehri. Additionally, the university has a robust network of 65 affiliated colleges across these districts.
