Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, commonly known as Avadh University, is a state government university located in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh. Established in 1975, the university has grown significantly over the decades, developing into a comprehensive educational institution serving approximately 500,000 students through its diverse academic programs.

The university initially began as an affiliating institution and transformed into a residential university in April 1984. Its academic journey started with four postgraduate departments in History, Culture & Archaeology, Economics & Rural Development, Mathematics & Statistics, and Physics & Electronics. By 1993-94, the university expanded its academic offerings and gained recognition under the UGC 12B scheme, adding departments like M.B.A, Bio-Chemistry, Microbiology, and Environmental Sciences.

In 2000-01, the university established its Institute of Engineering & Technology, offering B.Tech programs in Mechanical Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science and Electronics & Communication Engineering, along with MCA courses. The university continued to diversify its academic portfolio, introducing additional postgraduate and undergraduate programs such as Biotechnology, Mass Communication, Social Work, Library Science, and Business Administration.

A notable recent addition is the Sardar Patel Centre for National Integration, established in 2020 with a mission of cultural and political integration. With nine residential postgraduate departments, an on-campus engineering institute, and over 600 affiliated colleges, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University has become a significant center of higher education in Uttar Pradesh.

In Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, separate hostels for boys and girls to accommodate 460 and 100 students etc available on double accommodation with Mess and Sport facilities like Table Tennis, Badminton, Volleyball etc.
