The Birla Institute of Technology, Patna (BIT Patna) is an off-campus extension center of the Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, located in Patna, Bihar. Established in 2006 through a Public-Private Partnership initiative by the Government of Bihar, the institute aims to enhance technical education in the state. Spread across a 25-acre fully networked campus near Patna Airport, BIT Patna provides modern infrastructure including laboratories, libraries, and hostel facilities for approximately 1,200 students.

The institute offers a comprehensive range of academic programs across multiple disciplines. Undergraduate offerings include B.Tech. programs in Civil Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, Electronics & Communications Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Mechanical Engineering. Admissions for these programs are based on JEE Main scores through JoSAA counseling. Additionally, the institute provides undergraduate programs like BBA and BCA based on Class 12 marks.

At the postgraduate level, BIT Patna offers M.Tech. in Computer Science (via GATE or institute entrance) and MBA (via CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT). The institute also provides Ph.D. programs in fields such as Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics & Communication, Management, and applied sciences. The BIT Patna Central Library serves as a model of an evolving and dynamic facility in technical learning since 2006. The library, as an established knowledge hub that is conveniently accessible by those associated with the University, has a major contribution in making BIT an internationally top ranked Academic & Research driven institution. The Library’s collection comprises hybrid resources (Print & Electronic) in the filed of science and technology, engineering and  management. The library also has a separate Internet section consisting of a number of networked terminals for providing recent and most comprehensive access to online journals, online databases and other online reference resources to the faculty, students and staff under Intranet and Internet environment. The central library has automated all its routine activities through library software called “LIBSYS” and also extended the scope of various services like CD-ROM database search, OPAC and Web based OPAC.

The institute has its own bus for arranging trips to the local places of Patna especially for campus residents. The institute bus plies through main roads to Railway station and Gandhi Maidan several times a day. Special arrangements are also made to drop and pick-up students at the time of vacations and campus placements. Students are required to pay on a monthly basis for availing campus conveyance while visitors to the campus may avail the bus facility by paying the prevailing charges.
