Bihar Animal Sciences University (BASU) is a state agricultural university located in Patna, Bihar. Established in 2016 through the Bihar Animal Sciences University Act, the university became operational in June 2017 with the appointment of its first Vice-Chancellor, Rameshwar Singh.

The university specializes in animal sciences and offers comprehensive academic programs across three primary fields: veterinary science & animal husbandry, dairy technology, and fisheries management. Students can pursue undergraduate, postgraduate, doctoral, and diploma degrees in these specialized areas. BASU comprises three constituent colleges: Bihar Veterinary College, College of Fisheries in Kishanganj, and Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Dairy Technology.

In addition to its academic colleges, BASU operates six specialized institutes and farms across Bihar, including the Central Poultry Farm in Patna, Exotic Cattle Breeding Farm, Government Buffalo Farm in Sipaya, Government Cattle Farm in Gaya, Government Goat Breeding Farm in Purnia, and the Institute of Animal Health and Production in Patna. The university was created by transferring existing colleges from Bihar Agricultural University and Rajendra Agricultural University, with the goal of advancing research and education in animal sciences throughout the state.
