Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) is a public agricultural university located in Lam, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. The university has a rich history dating back to its original establishment on 12 June 1964 as the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University, with O. Pulla Reddy serving as its first vice-chancellor.

The university was formally inaugurated on 20 March 1965 by then Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, with another significant milestone occurring on 23 June 1966 when Indira Gandhi inaugurated the university's building program. On 7 November 1996, the institution was renamed Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University, consolidating agricultural institutions in the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh.

ANGRAU boasts an impressive academic structure with 11 colleges across multiple faculties, including Agriculture, Community Science, and Agricultural Engineering & Technology. These colleges are strategically located across different districts of Andhra Pradesh, including notable institutions such as Agricultural College in Bapatla (established 1945), S.V. Agricultural College in Tirupati (established 1961), and College of Community Science in Lam (established 2013). The university has been recognized for its academic standing, achieving a ranking of 27 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) for the 2017-18 academic year.

The university encompasses a comprehensive network of agricultural research, with 41 agricultural research stations and four research stations transferred to its management in the 1960s. This extensive infrastructure supports its mission of agricultural education, research, and innovation in the region.

The University has well-equipped library system has 10 libraries in its fold apart from the university library located at the head-quarter in Guntur. It has created a database of Books, Journals, Theses, Reports and Reference sources and it’s made available through ‘OPAC’. The library has access to Consortium for e-Resources in Agriculture (CeRA), an online journal consortium. CeRA provides access to about 2,800+ online journals covering various disciplines of agricultural sciences including veterinary and animal sciences.It has a good collection of more than 1,000 books are kept as reference books.Around 100 to 200 basic to advanced books are added every year for the users of the library. Thesis/ Dissertations are available more than 300,650 e-books at present and all these e-books are accessible via the e-book gateway of OPAC. Other facilities include SC/ST book bank, digital library, repographic services etc.The central library building with a carpet area of 4645 sq. mts., can accommodate over 2 lakhs books and sitting capacity of about 200 readers. ANGRAU has total collection of over 2,00,000 books and subscribes to 500 Indian and foreign periodicals
