The Academy of Maritime Education and Training (AMET) is a private deemed university located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, established in 1993. Dedicated to maritime education and training, AMET is a unique technology-oriented institute of higher education in India focused on maritime studies. The university operates under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.

AMET has developed strong international collaborations, partnering with maritime colleges such as South Tyneside College, Hull College, and Glasgow College of Nautical Sciences. In its early years, the institution was an off-campus extension of Birla Institute of Technology Mesra, and in 2007, it was granted university status by the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
