Lord Jegannath College of Engineering and Technology, Kanyakumari (TNEA Code: 4983)

All right. In this explainer, we're taking a close look at Lord Jagenoth Carage of Engineering and Technology. It's located down in the Kanyakumari district. And for anyone getting ready for counseling, the TNA code you'll need is 4983. So, right off the bat, two things really jump out. One, it's affiliated with Anna University, which is a big plus. And two, and this is a really big deal for parents and students trying to gauge quality, it has a knack A grade. That's a strong independent stamp of approval. And yeah, let's just pause on that A for a second. When you're thinking about the kind of financial investment an engineering degree is, an accreditation like this is a really, really important piece of the puzzle to consider from the very start. Okay, so we've got that headline accreditation, but let's dig a little deeper and build out a proper profile of the college. Here are the quick facts for you. It's a self- financing college set up back in 2006, and it's affiliated to ANA University, Chennai. Now, for admissions, it's all through TNA counseling, and they have a pretty standard split. 65% of the seats are for the government quota, and the other 35% are for the management quota. So, let's rewind a bit. Where did this college come from? Who started it? And what are its official approvals looking like today? The college was founded in 2006, and the organization behind it is the PSN Education and Charitable Trust, which is based out of Nagra Coyle. And right from the beginning, the trust had a very clear mission. They wanted to boost technical educ particularly for students coming from the rural areas in and around Kanyukumari. So you can see it has a strong community focus. Their official slogan which you'll find on their website is work is worship. Kind of gives you a hint about the sort of values and work ethic they're looking to build in their students. Okay, let's get into the official stuff. The college has the green light from AICT that's the allindia council for technical education for the upcoming 202526 academic year. And just to circle Back to that quality marker we mentioned, the Knack Agrade is supported by a solid CGPA of 3.08 on a four-point scale. Now, let's get to the main event. What can you actually study here? What courses are on the table for the 2026 admissions badge? So, the college offers eight different BE and BEC programs. You've got your core branches like civil, mechanical, and cse, but there are also some more specialized options in there. You can also see how many seats are available in each branch. And when you add all of that up, it comes to a total of 360 AICTE approved undergraduate seats. That's the total capacity across all eight of their engineering programs. You know, what's pretty interesting is the mix of courses here. They have a solid base in the traditional engineering fields that are always in demand, but they're also offering programs in newer areas like robotics and automation and agricultural engineering. It shows they're trying to keep up with where the industry is heading. Okay. Academics aside for a moment, let's talk about the day-to-day practicalities. This stuff is super important, especially if you're not from the local area. So, the college covers the main basis. Yep, there are separate host for boys and girls. The mess serves both veg and non-veg food, so you have options. They do have college transport. And if you're traveling by train, the nearest major station is Needy, which is about 12 km away from the campus. All right, let's talk about the bottom line. It's the one question every student and parent has. What happens after 4 years? What are the results? What are the outcomes? According to the official data that the college themselves provided to TNA for the year 2025, they reported a placement rate of 100%. That's definitely a number that gets your attention. A high placement number is great for sure, but what does individual academic success look like? Can we find a real solid example of a student who has truly excelled here? Absolutely. Here is a perfect example. An alumnest work Rexlin L from the aeronautical engineering department batch of 2018 to 2021 actually secured the 27th rank across the entire university. That rank comes directly from Anna University and it's a powerful testament to the kind of academic standards that can be achieved here. Just to be clear, all the information that we've gone through today has been carefully compiled from the college's own official website and from trusted government portals as of the time we put this together.
