Walchand College of Engineering (WCE) is a government engineering institution located in Sangli, Maharashtra, India. Established in 1947 by Dhondumama Sathe, the college began with an undergraduate course in Civil Engineering, initially accommodating 60 students and originally affiliated with Bombay University.

    The college has steadily expanded its academic offerings over the decades. In 1955, it was renamed after Walchand Hirachand, an industrialist, and became affiliated with Pune University and later Shivaji University. By 1971, the college had introduced postgraduate coursework in civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, WCE added undergraduate and postgraduate programs in electronics engineering and computer science.

    Situated on a sprawling 90-acre campus in Vishrambag, located between the twin cities of Sangli and Miraj, Walchand College of Engineering has achieved significant milestones. Since 2007, it has been an autonomous college offering B.Tech. degrees with financial and academic autonomy. The college was also selected for the World Bank-funded Technical Education Quality Improvement Program (TEQIP) in 2005, receiving nearly Rs. 9 crores in funding. Its placement record is notable, with 464 undergraduate students placed in organizations during 2010 and 2011.

    Today, WCE offers a diverse range of engineering programs, including civil, electrical, mechanical, computer science, electronics, and information technology. The college continues to be recognized for its extensive campus and strong placement opportunities, serving as a significant educational institution in Maharashtra's engineering education landscape.
