SRM Valliammai Engineering College is a private institution located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Established in 1999, the college is affiliated with Anna University Chennai. The college has a 13.00-acre campus.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at SRM Valliammai Engineering College was established when the college first opened in 1999. Initially, the department had an annual intake of 60 students. In 2019-20, the intake was increased to 180 students to meet the growing global demand for computer science education. The department also offers a Master of Engineering (M.E.) program in Computer Science and Engineering, which was started in the academic year 2012-13 with an intake of 18 students.

The CSE department is recognized as a Research Centre by Anna University, Chennai. The department has well-qualified faculty members with various specializations relevant to the industry. The college aims to maintain high standards in the teaching-learning process and mold students to acquire knowledge in the field of Computer Science and Engineering. The department's goals include conducting international conferences, securing government and industry-funded projects, and establishing a research center in Computer Science and Engineering.
