NSS College of Engineering is a government engineering institution located in Akathethara, Palakkad, Kerala. The college has developed a comprehensive engineering education program since its early years, initially starting with three core engineering branches: Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering.

Over the years, the college expanded its academic offerings by introducing additional engineering disciplines. In 1980, Instrumentation & Control Engineering was added to the curriculum, followed by Electronics & Communication Engineering in 1986 and Computer Science Engineering in 1999. This strategic expansion demonstrates the institution's commitment to providing diverse technical education options.

The college's academic programs have received recognition through accreditation by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Specifically, the B.Tech courses in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical & Electronics Engineering have been awarded a B3 Grade, while Instrumentation & Control Engineering received a B5 Grade. Student admissions are conducted through the All Kerala Engineering Entrance Examination, with 85% of seats filled based on merit by the government and 15% reserved for management quota. Additionally, the college offers a 10% lateral entry scheme for students in the third semester.

The institution also supports students through various scholarship opportunities. Scholarships are available from multiple state governments, including Nagaland, Himachal Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Pondicherry, and Sikkim, providing financial support for meritorious students from these states.
