The National Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (NIAMT), located in Ranchi, Jharkhand, is a premier public technical research institution with a rich history of technical education. Originally established in 1966 as the National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology (NIFFT), the institute was created through a collaboration between the Government of India, UNDP, and UNESCO to address the growing need for specialized technicians in manufacturing industries.

NIAMT operates as a Deemed to be University under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and is recognized as an autonomous institute within the NIT+ system. The institute offers a comprehensive range of academic programs, including postdoctoral, doctoral, and master's programs at the graduate level, as well as bachelor's programs and advanced diploma courses at the undergraduate level. Its academic departments have expanded over time to include Manufacturing Engineering (1985), Materials and Metallurgical Engineering (1998), Mechanical Engineering (2020), and Electronics and Computer Engineering (2021).

The institute's primary focus has evolved from its original emphasis on foundry and forge technology to meet the broader needs of modern manufacturing industries. NIAMT provides not only educational programs but also offers consultancy, documentation, and information retrieval services across various core sectors worldwide. Located in Hatia, approximately 7.4 km from Ranchi, the institute is strategically positioned with convenient access to local transportation, being 6 km from Ranchi Airport and 10 km from Ranchi Railway Station.
