The Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology (IIFPT) is a government-run institution located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu. The institute was established to address the challenges of preserving high-moisture paddy during the South West monsoon season in Southern India.

IIFPT was founded in 1967 as the Paddy Processing Research Centre (PPRC) by Dr. V. Subrahmanyan, an eminent scientist and the founder Director of the Central Food Technological Research Institute in Mysore. Over the years, the institute has grown in significance, reflecting the rising demand for food technology interventions to ensure food and nutritional security.

The institute's campus in Thanjavur offers sophisticated boarding facilities for both male and female students. It provides reading rooms, recreation areas, and state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor sports amenities for students to balance their academic pursuits with extracurricular activities. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled, fostering a diverse community of students engaged in a wide range of entertainment, religious, and other co-curricular programs.
