Government Hydro Engineering College, located in Bandla, Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, is a pioneering government institution dedicated to engineering education. The college was conceptualized in 2009 and officially established on April 27, 2017, through a collaborative effort between the Himachal Pradesh government, Government of India, NTPC, and NHPC.

The college offers four approved branches of engineering: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering (Artificial Intelligence & Data Science), and Mechanical Engineering. Currently, it runs three B.Tech programs in Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering (AI & DS), and Electrical Engineering, with an intake of 60 students in each course. Additionally, the institution will introduce an M.Tech in Electrical Engineering (Vehicle Technology) starting from the 2025 academic session.

Constructed by the National Project Construction Corporation (NPCC Ltd.), the college has a clear mission to create skilled engineers for energy and other sectors. Its governance is structured under a Board of Governors (BOG) chaired by the Secretary of Technical Education to the Government of Himachal Pradesh. The institution aims to develop a premier-class educational environment equipped with quality infrastructure, resourceful faculty, and skilled students, maintaining high standards in academics and research.

With government and AICTE approval, Government Hydro Engineering College stands as a significant educational institution in the region, focusing on producing technically proficient engineers who can contribute to the energy sector and beyond.
