Government Engineering College, Thrissur (GEC-T) is a distinguished public engineering and research institute located in Thrissur, Kerala. Established in 1957, it holds the distinction of being the second-oldest public engineering institute in Kerala and the first public technology institute established after the state's formation in 1956.

The college has a rich historical background, with its foundation stone laid by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on 26 April 1958. Initially located at the Chembukkavu campus of the Maharaja's Technological Institute, the institute moved to its present 75-acre campus in Ramavarmapuram in October 1960 and was formally inaugurated by Pattom A. Thanu Pillai on 2 February 1962. Currently affiliated with APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), GEC-T offers a comprehensive range of academic programs including B-Tech courses, a postgraduate Course in Computer Applications (MCA), and other postgraduate programs.

The college has gained recognition for its academic quality, with courses accredited by the National Board of Accreditation, AICTE, and Council of Architecture. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranked the institute between 201-300 in engineering institutes of India in 2024. Beyond academics, the college is known for its vibrant student culture, hosting the annual National Level Tech fest Dyuthi and organizing events like the first TEDx event in Central Kerala in April 2018. The institute has also produced notable alumni, including space scientists like K Radhakrishnan, Tessy Thomas, and M. Chandra Dathan, who have made significant contributions in fields such as space research and defense technology.
