The Government College of Engineering and Ceramic Technology (GCECT) is a prominent public institution located in Beliaghata, Kolkata, West Bengal. Affiliated with the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, the college has established itself as a key center for engineering education with a special focus on ceramic technology.

The college offers comprehensive undergraduate and postgraduate programs in multiple disciplines. Students can pursue B.Tech degrees in Ceramic Technology, Information Technology, and Computer Science and Engineering. Each department has an intake capacity of 48 students, with 40 students admitted through WBJEE and 8 through JELET. The Computer Science and Information Technology programs were introduced in 2000 and 2001 respectively, demonstrating the institution's commitment to evolving technological education.

Recognized as a NAAC accredited grade A autonomous institution, GCECT has distinguished itself through collaborative research and industry partnerships. The college has engaged in notable joint research projects, including a development initiative with IIT-Kharagpur on jute reinforced concrete and an industrial project with TISCO studying wear mechanisms in steel ladle environments. Additionally, the institution is an IBM Software Centre of Excellence, further enhancing its technological credentials.

The college maintains a vibrant campus life with annual technical and cultural festivals. KarmaTek (formerly Techtronics) represents the technical festival, while Jagriti serves as the cultural event, providing students with platforms for innovation and creative expression. A significant milestone was reached in April 2016 when the college celebrated its Platinum Jubilee, marking 75 years of educational excellence, an occasion commemorated with international conferences and an alumni meet.
