The Central Library of GMIT occupies a very important place in the campus. It provides all necessary support towards teaching-learning process and research activities. Located at the first floor of GMIT admin building with 140 seating capacity, it has a rich collection of 21246 text books and reference books covering 2960 titles on all relevant subjects. The institute subscribes 36 nos. of periodicals, local & national dailies which are available for the benefit of the readers. Some of the facilities include Reprography, Printing, Scanning of reference books & articles along with educational CDs. GMIT library is partially automated with ‘# LIB MAN’ – user-friendly integrated library management software (ILMS) & Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) facility. Users can search & retrieve books smoothly through this software from using PC, Laptop or smart-phones inside the campus. GMIT Library uses Dewey decimal classification (DDC) Standards for classify the books. GMIT library has a unique feature of Book Bank facility which provides average of 4 to 6 text to every student at the beginning of each semester, as per their course curriculum. At GMIT-library, students and faculties access the NPTEL Video Lectures, E-Books, and E- Journals using the Multimedia lab facility. They also avail the access NPTEL Video Lectures using LAN connected PC anywhere inside the campus through specific IP. GMIT Library is also a member of National Digital Library (NDL) which has a collection of more than 6 lacs e-books where the students and staffs are members. The student members who participates in the NDLI Club webinars get a certificate from NDLI Club of IIT Kharagpur. These webinars are conducted by Library Committee along with respective departments.
