Francis Xavier Engineering College is a private engineering institution located in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. Established in 2000, the college is affiliated with Anna University Chennai. The college's 15-acre campus is situated in the heart of Tirunelveli, a city known as the 'Oxford of South India'.

The college offers 8 undergraduate and 7 postgraduate engineering programs, all of which are approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Four of the college's programs - Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering - are accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA). The college is also recognized under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956.

Francis Xavier Engineering College has achieved several accolades and recognitions. It is an autonomous institution and has been awarded the prestigious 'Platinum Rating' by the AICTE-CII Survey of Industry-Linked Technical Institutes. The college has also been ranked in the 51-100 band in the NIRF India Rankings under the Innovation category by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Additionally, the college's Institution's Innovation Council has been awarded a top 4-star rating by the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell, placing it among the elite 142 institutions in India.

Library is the soul of any institution. It is a center of acquiring, processing, preserving and disseminating information to the user community with the motto of empowering knowledge, Francis Xavier Engineering College library has well trained staff and well managed library system to enrich the students community with a wide range of academic resources such as books, periodicals, online periodicals, databases, back volumes, CDs/DVDs, project reports, audio / video cassettes, and question bank.

There are three different libraries in the campus with a built in area of more than 5000 Square Feet housed comfortably in an air-conditioned Comfort. The college resource center has a good collection of textbooks, reference books, national and international journals, CD's, and videos. As on date, there are about twelve thousand books (including reference books and journals). The library has an on line catalog and high speed internet facility. Bar code system is implemented and students can borrow books by producing the Library cards.
