D.K.T.E. Society's Textile and Engineering Institute is located in Ichalkaranji, Maharashtra, a town known as the 'Manchester of Maharashtra' due to its significant textile industry. The institute was established in 1982 by the Dattajirao Kadam Education Society, founded under the leadership of Mr. K.B. Awade to address the educational needs of the local textile and engineering sectors.

The institute offers a comprehensive range of academic programs, including 11 undergraduate degree programs spanning various disciplines. These include specialized textile-related courses such as Textile Technology, Man Made Textile Technology, Textile Plant Engineering, and Textile Chemistry, as well as engineering programs in Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Science, Telecommunication, Civil, and Electrical Engineering. Additionally, the institute provides six postgraduate programs and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on textiles.

Today, D.K.T.E. Society's Textile and Engineering Institute has grown significantly, with over 3,700 students currently enrolled across its various programs. The institution boasts a robust faculty of 215 highly qualified professionals and has developed a strong alumni network of approximately 13,000 graduates. It is also a recognized research center for Ph.D. programs in Textile Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Science & Engineering, reflecting its commitment to advanced academic and research pursuits.
