The university has a rich history dating back to 1978-79, when it began as the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar PG Center on a 49-acre plot. In 2008, following recommendations from the National Knowledge Commission, the institution transformed into a full-fledged university, expanding its campus to an impressive 168 acres.

Currently, the university offers a comprehensive range of academic programs, including 1 Diploma, 3 PG Diplomas, 7 Undergraduate programs, and 23 Postgraduate and Ph.D. programs across its three constituent colleges.
