Birla Institute of Applied Sciences (BIAS) is a private educational institution located in Bhimtal, Uttarakhand. The institute's journey began in 1969 when Shri B. M. Birla, a renowned industrialist, established a Centre of the Birla Institute of Scientific Research in the developing Bhimtal industrial area.

The campus offers a comprehensive residential experience with 05 Boys Hostels accommodating approximately 300 students and one Girls Hostel with a capacity of around 200 students. The entire campus is equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity, and students have access to essential facilities including a dispensary and ambulance to support their health and well-being.

BIAS provides multiple academic programs designed to prepare students for successful careers in technology and computing. These include a 4-year Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Computer Science Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering, a 3-year Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), and a 2-year Master of Computer Applications (MCA). The institute emphasizes practical skills and industry relevance, with a strong focus on hands-on learning and project work. The Training and Placement Cell has been particularly successful, achieving an impressive 85% placement rate for some programs and 90% for B.Tech in the 2021-22 academic year.

The institute supports holistic student development through various societies and clubs, including cultural, literary, sports, Google Developers, and technoforum clubs. Recently, BIAS has also collaborated with NASSCOM to establish a digital lab aimed at promoting computer literacy in semi-urban and rural areas surrounding the institute.
