Birla Institute of Applied Sciences (BIAS) is a private educational institution located in Bhimtal, Uttarakhand. The institute has a rich history dating back to 1969, when it was established as a centre of the Birla Institute of Scientific Research by renowned industrialist Shri B. M. Birla in the developing Bhimtal industrial area.

BIAS offers a comprehensive range of technology and computer-focused academic programs. The Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) is a 4-year undergraduate degree with specializations in Computer Science Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. Students can also pursue a 3-year Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) program that builds foundational knowledge in computer science, covering programming languages, web development, and software engineering. For postgraduate students, the 2-year Master of Computer Applications (MCA) provides advanced computing education with a focus on software development and IT management.

The campus features extensive residential facilities, including five boys' hostels with a capacity of approximately 300 students and one girls' hostel accommodating around 200 students. All academic and hostel areas are Wi-Fi enabled, and the institute provides additional student support through a dispensary and ambulance service. To promote holistic development, BIAS has established various societies and clubs, including cultural, literary, sports, Google Developers, and technoforum clubs. The institute's Training and Placement Cell has been particularly successful, achieving an impressive 85-90% placement rate in recent years. Recently, NASSCOM has also established a digital lab on campus to promote computer literacy in semi-urban and rural areas.
