Bipin Tripathi Kumaon Institute of Technology (BTKIT), formerly known as Kumaon Engineering College (KEC), is a government engineering and technology institute located in Dwarahat, Uttarakhand. The college was established on April 20, 1986, under the guidance of Narayan Dutt Tiwari during the tenure of Chief Minister Vir Bahadur Singh, with 155 acres of land initially allotted by the Uttar Pradesh government.

The institute began its academic journey in 1991, starting with two engineering branches: Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). The college's initial educational program was designed to mirror the approach of prestigious institutions like IITs and RECs/NITs, with a focus on developing technology and engineering education in the Kumaon Region.

Today, BTKIT offers a comprehensive range of academic programs. The undergraduate offerings include seven engineering disciplines: Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Biotechnology. Additionally, the institute provides postgraduate programs such as Master of Computer Applications (MCA) and Master of Technology (M.Tech.) with specializations in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The institute also launched PhD programs in 2016.

The college is managed by a Board of Governors, with the Minister of Technical Education of Uttarakhand serving as chairman and the Secretary of Technical Education as vice-chairman. Located on the Kathgodam-Ranikhet-Karnaprayag National Highway, approximately 30 km from Ranikhet, BTKIT provides comprehensive infrastructure including hostels, staff residential campus, departmental buildings, and student activity facilities. The institute emphasizes creating an atmosphere conducive to learning and holistic student development, with a strong focus on self-discipline and mutual respect.
